  • Go Team!

watching the olympics always makes me wish i were an athlete.  first time i saw the olympics when i was a little girl, i said "i want to be in that!"  but though i love to swim, i've never been racing caliber, and my myriad of "participation" ribbons for swim-team bear out that thesis.  i tried a short stint at gymnastics in high school, but that was also not to be.  although i perfected the cartwheel on the balance beam and a few minor tricks on the uneven bars, i was not a competition quality gymnast either.  i could definitely compete if there was a category for blog writing or time wasting or even singing along with the radio, but alas, none of those are olympic events.

so i live vicariously through the athletes who sport the red, white, and blue uniforms, and i sing along to the national anthem as the gold medalists lip the words with tears in their eyes.

i am so proud of our team, team USA, and the accomplishments they have already earned this year.  i'm thrilled for michael phelps and sincerely hope he can meet or beat spitz's gold medal record.  last night i watched the men's gymnastic team as the americans performed one amazing high bar routine after another, all with perfect landings.  earlier that night i watched the women's beach volleyball team smoke another country.  and two nights ago when the men's 400M freestyle relay came from behind to beat the trash-talking french, well, chadd and i screamed so loud we woke up caleb.  lol!  tonight i'm watching the women's gymnastics interspersed with some swimming... my two favorites.

so anyway, what are you here on xanga for?  go watch the olympics!

    Go Team USA!

    yay!

I'm with you all the way---it's been great tv viewing the last few nights.  I loved how excited the men gymnasts were even with bronze and they way they really congratulate each other (as compared to the girls little hugs and smiles that say I wish I were better than you).  To me. it seems that guys generally are able to set aside the individual competitiveness they usually have for genuine team enthusiasm better than girls do.

btw-  think of the street sign that is driving you crazy and reread the sentence at the end of the next to last paragraph
